Handwriting vs Digital Writing

Which is better??

In this section, we have to read and watch a writing material about handwriting and digital writing. After I did, it remembers when the first time I learn writing in kindergarten. I only need a pencil and paper. From the material I think handwriting is written about what you think on paper with a pencil or pen, however, digital writing is a combination of writing skills and technology, you can write (type) the idea or something on a lpad, or mobile phone, computer or laptop. Before the pandemic, I studied in offline school and always wrote by hand to take notes, make summaries, or assignments. In contrast after a pandemic, I always write by laptop or mobile phone.

There are so many advantages to both of them, for example, based on my experience. When I write by hand I can more focus and understood the material. As argued Muller and Oppenheimer, they claim that Students remember better when they write by hand, and digital writing can have a negative impact on their performance. Students that write digitally tend to create rich content with a variety of pointless depreciation (for example, a student essay that contains many words, yet lacks substantial content). Moreover, one research study by them even showed that students who take lecture notes by hand generally performed better in tests than those who took their notes on a computer. It same argument by Longcamp et al. (2008) concluded that the combination of physical action and memory makes people remember better.

Even so, digital writing is no less profitable than handwriting. The benefit of digital writing is that it allows you to practice hearing how letters and words sound while still writing, providing the students with a functional connection. Building an internal dictionary of written words and an orthographic lexicon, which is beneficial for writing development, requires combining form and usefulness (Hultin & Westman, 2014; Liberg, 2014; Myrberg, 2007). In addition, it is practical and flexible, because digital writing can be done anywhere, even in public places. We only need electronic tools such as; cell phones, tabs, and laptops. And we just write comfortably.

Personally, I prefer to write by hand than write by digital tools. Because,  when you type you only copy the exact information that's being said by the lecturer.  But it is different when you write by hand, you can really focus on making high yield notes with only the most important information. Handwriting also needs writing skills to write good handwritten notes. Even though, according to Agélii Genlott and Grönlund (2016), employing digital tools for writing can improve comprehension of the topic matter and increase availability and equivalence if the writing is effectively integrated into an educational framework. In addition, the students could be listening to the professor and typing down everything they're saying, whilst having a full-on conversation with their friends and making them enjoy the class. But it would be better if we combine the two techniques of writing. Because each method has advantages and disadvantages. So, in conclusion, I thought I'd combine the two, like handwriting to take notes so I can keep reading but I'm doing digital writing for summaries.
